Welcome crypto dummies!
If you’re new here, this substack focuses on educating those who know nothing about crypto and blockchain technology. If that’s you, you’re in the right place!
The current state of the markets can discourage many newcomers. While we will never give you financial or investment advice, we do have one piece of advice for readers. Remember that all markets can be volatile, and crypto is no different. This is new-age technology and an opportunity to educate yourself on the tech that will without a doubt have a significant impact in the near future.
These are crucial times to take advantage and learn as much as you can! In that same spirit today we’ll be dropping a resource guide to help get everyone familiarized with some of the basics of web3.
Let’s get started!
1. Web3 University
Web3 University is one of the best resources out there to learn the basics of blockchain technology. Web3U has well-structured and thorough tutorials on getting started with contract development, making NFTs, and the basics of getting started with web 3 development.
Web3 University boasts a wide variety of training partners featuring:
Alchemy
Arbitrum
Polygon
Pantera
a16z
Opensea
Optimsim
Flow
Chainshot
Since launch, they have seen unprecedented growth with over 100,000 students using the platform and over 7,500 joining the project discord.
2. Buildspace.so
Buildspace.so is driven by community projects and collaboration. Their motto? “Building stuff alone is lame.” Buildspace relies heavily on the community to teach the next generation of web3 builders. After joining their discord, users can work on community-driven projects amongst peers and share their progress with the team’s developers and mentors. Buildspace focuses primarily on Ethereum and Solana, teaching aspiring devs the basics and how to build fantastic projects on both chains.
3. NFTschool.dev
If you’re interested in learning all there is to know about NFTs, or if you’re looking to launch your own project, there’s no better resource than NFTschool. NFTSchool focuses on the basics of NFTs and getting aspiring developers up to speed so they can comfortably launch their own NFT collections.
4. Hardhat.org
Hardhat is a guide and introduction to Ethereum and dApp development. The tutorials are built for those that are looking to launch their first app from scratch and quickly build something they can deploy on the blockchain.
Hardhat is a development environment that facilitates building on Ethereum. Hardhat comes with a built in local Ethereum network design for dApp development. This allows users to deploy contracts, run tests, and debug code.
While hardhat is aimed for beginners, it is one of the harder courses out there. Before getting started users are encouraged to know enough about coding with Java, accessing the terminal, using git, and knowing the basics of smart contracts.
5. freecodecamp.org
Free code camp is the ultimate (free) guide for those that know absolutely nothing. They boast a wide variety of courses specifically tailored for beginners with zero coding experience. Teaching users the basics of Java, python, web design, front end development, data analysis, information security, and much more.
If you’re new to the crypto space and are looking for a way to join the development side, any of the resources above will lead you in the right direction. Many of these courses do not require previous coding experience and will show you the basics of getting started from nothing.
Like all markets, crypto can be extremely volatile. Regardless of the fluctuations in price action, one thing remains clear. Crypto and blockchain technology is here to stay. We are witnessing the adoption of new technologies and a new age of internet unfold before our very eyes. This means new opportunities for those willing to take advantage, and a new demand for web3 developers and creatives.
While the world ponders the legitimacy of crypto and argues over the volatility in price of BTC, others are researching, studying, and learning.
What will you do anon?
